Free MySpace Status Update Bot: PureStatus

January 31st, 2010 by bundyxc No comments »

Looking for a free MySpace status update bot? You’ve come to the right place. Here you’ll find a download link to PureStatus, the only free status update bot around. Freelancers try to sell these for $50 and up, but I’m releasing to the public for free.

PureStatus MySpace Update Bot

Why am I doing this? At first, I exclusively released PureStatus to members of PureAdds, a free MySpace friend adding site… but now you can download it for free. This MySpace Status Update Bot is a simple Windows program that updates your MySpace status whenever you want. This helps you promote things, get referrals, and keep a constant flow of MySpace status updates coming from your profile. This uses your computer to post MySpace status updates to your MySpace profile as much as you want, so that you can promote even while you sleep!

15 Websites like FMyLife

January 20th, 2010 by bundyxc 4 comments »

I’ve wasted too many hours on FMyLife, as I’m sure you have too. So let’s find some more sites to waste time on!

MyLifeIsAverage

The same idea as FMyLife, with a different theme. Instead of posting about miserable experiences, people post about how they’re normal.. sort of. The site started out by making jabs at FMyLife, making numerous references to their predecessor, but has since developed their own niche that they manage very well.

Today I installed a program and it asked if I had read and agreed to the terms and conditions. I hadn’t, but I clicked ‘yes’ anyway. The program didn’t know I lied, and began to install. MLIA.

Google Real-Time Search Add-On For Firefox

December 24th, 2009 by bundyxc No comments »

After Google released their real-time search, I decided that I wanted to make a Firefox add-on that allowed you to search real-time with Firefox. I quickly got to work on the search add-on, and published it an hour later.

AT&T Takes Advantage of Customers When Comparing Internet Plans

December 24th, 2009 by bundyxc 1 comment »

Yet another reason not to like AT&T. While us geeks caught on very quickly, other people fell victim to AT&T’s “Plan Comparison”. For those who don’t understand internet speeds, this chart seemed to be a helpful diagram to allow them to see which plan they needed… or so they thought. AT&T decided to put outrageous things on the diagram, making it looked like you needed 12 Mb/s (megabits per second) just to stream videos from YouTube. What a joke!

Hide Your Email Address From Spambots (CSS Example!)

December 21st, 2009 by bundyxc 1 comment »

Whenever you post your email address online, you open up the chance that a spambot will be able to scavenge your address, and fill your inbox with… spam. Yuck! Nobody wants spam, so let’s take a look at a few ways to make it hard to get your email address picked up by spambots.

Before spambots were a huge issue, people who operated websites liked to make links to send emails, by doing this:

<a href="mailto:email@example.com>Email me!</a>

This made it easy for spambots to get your email address, just by looking for the phrase “mailto”. Once people caught on, they started switching things up a bit. People stopped using links as much, and the started using different methods (in order of difficulty for spambots to harvest).

PHP Random String Function genRandStr()

December 19th, 2009 by bundyxc No comments »

genRandStr() creates a random string, with parameters to control length, type of characters, and also the ability to create an array of these randomized strings with the established properties (as opposed to running the function multiple times, which would require program to loop through the logic portion of the function again and again). Strings can be numeric, alphanumeric uppercase, alphanumeric lowercase, alpha lowercase, and alpha uppercase.

This random string function can be found at php.net, submitted as a “User Contributed Note” which can be found here.

eSIS API/Alerts, BearBones, and File Manager Brainstorms

December 13th, 2009 by bundyxc No comments »

It’s five ‘o clock in the morning, and my brain is hard at work, brainstorming potential projects. For the past few hours I’ve been thinking of new projects that I’d like to take on. I’ll be compiling a short list of what I’ve brainstormed so far, just to document my ideas, and add some more content to the site. Below, you’ll find my list of three potential projects, in no particular order:

Media Temple index.php Injection Analysis

November 29th, 2009 by bundyxc 2 comments »

As we talked about last time, Media Temple’s servers got cracked, and many people’s passwords were stolen. In addition, many codes were added to people’s files. According to Jeffrey Barke, there were codes injected in index.php, and while there were codes injected in other parts of the site, I’d like to take a look at index.php’s code:

<!--yje35zfv8SU--><font style="position: absolute;overflow: hidden;height: 0;width: 0"><a href="http://www.bangpass.com/t1/pps=brunette/assparade.html">assparade</a></font>

Securing User Passwords

November 29th, 2009 by bundyxc 3 comments »

I’ve got good news, and bad news… we’ll start out with the bad news.

Bad news: Media Temple (web host) got hacked, most likely due to horrible password security.
Good news:
There is definitely something to be learned from this.

When you register at Media Temple, you obviously have to give them your username and password… But what do they do with them? Well, they store it in their database, of course! So let’s pretend that I registered. What would I look like in the database? Well, it looks something like this:

username: bundyxc
password: quickbr0wnf0x

That makes things simple, right? That way all of their employess can see my password, so that… wait, what?! They can see my password?! Every good programmer knows that storing passwords as plaintext is just ignorant. That means that if a cracker broke into the database, they would have everybody’s password. That’s a no-no. Let’s improve on that idea.

Improved SyntaxHighlighter PHP Brush

November 28th, 2009 by bundyxc 5 comments »

SyntaxHighlighter is a load of code created to add a splash of color to code, using Javascript. It was created by Alex Gorbachev, but various authors have implemented his work into their projects, one being SyntaxHighlighter Evolved, which is a WordPress plugin that I use right here on my blog.

Wordpress default:

<?php
while ($var == 'string') {
    include('filename.php');
    print 12345;
}
?>

With a syntax highlighter:

<?php
while ($var == 'string') {
    include('filename.php');
    print 12345;
}
?>

This makes it much more simple to distinguish between constants, functions, language constructs, delimiters, etc., and makes the code less boring to read. However, by default, SyntaxHighlighter only comes with about 500 functions built in, and a few errors when defining keywords. So, what did I do? I took the brush (the file with all of the functions/keywords/etc.), and added the rest of the 5,500+ PHP functions. It took a while, but the finished product is worth it. If you’re using any software based on SyntaxHighlighter, you can use my new and improved brush, which features many additions when it comes to constants, classes, functions, keywords, and language constructs.
